The Columbus Film Council presents:
4th Tuesday Free Press Film Night at the Drexel Theatre
Ohio Fair Food Campaign Films: A series of short films from the Coalition of Immokalee Workers
The Coalition of Immokalee Workers (CIW) is a worker-based human rights organization internationally recognized for its achievements in the fields of corporate social responsibility, community organizing, and sustainable food. The CIW is also a leader in the growing movement to end human trafficking due to its groundbreaking work to combat modern-day slavery and other labor abuses common in agriculture. We’ll show short clips of the hardships and triumphs, including a clip of the never-before-seen documentary Food Chains, produced by Eva Longoria and narrated by Forest Whitaker, which just premiered this month at the Berlin Film Festival. Community activist Ruben Herrera will do a Q&A after the films and there will be a conversation with Oscar Otzoy, a farmworker leader of the Coalition of Immokalee Workers (CIW) and representatives of Ohio Fair Food. Admission is free, donations are encouraged.
This screening has been made possible with support from the Ohio Arts Council and the Greater Columbus Arts Council.
