Scripts are where the written word and performance meet. Whether fictional or factual, screenplays are a form of art with unique demands, but also tremendous creative freedom. Not every great story results in a great script, nor does every great script make it to screen.

Explore the techniques professionals use to tell their stories through an interactive discussion on common myths and misperceptions about the process of taking a screenplay to production. Learn to balance plot advancement with character development and craft scripts that will draw the attention of prospective filmmakers. If you’re new to screenwriting or just looking to hone your existing skills, don’t miss this overview of the art of storytelling for motion pictures and television. Even those just interested in the screenwriting process will find a new appreciation for film and the challenges of going from script to screen.

* hire a crew
* find a director
* organize the paperwork
* cope with setbacks
* build contingency plans
* barter
* everything in between.

In the end, you will have a basic knowledge on how to get a project started, keep it going, and see it through to completion.

The job of producer varies from project to project, person to person – but in all cases, a great deal of producing comes from personal experience and one’s own style of leadership. Under Great White Northern Lights is a visual and emotional feature length film documenting The White Stripes making their way through Canada and culminating with their 10th Anniversary show in Nova Scotia. The film documents the band playing shows all over Canada; from local bowling alleys, to city buses, and onward to the historic Savoy Theatre for the 10th Anniversary show. A show that turned out to be the longest show the band had ever done on stage together.
The film captures intimate moments of Jack and Meg both on and off stage as they travel through some of the most remote parts of the northern Yukon Territory. Along the way, they have some nice casual conversations about their ten years together, fire cannons, play some of their biggest songs together on stage, and even play a “one note show.” The cameras were there to capture every waking moment.

The DVD will be raffled off as a fundraiser after the screening. Folks can enter three ways.
*Join the FB group of the CIF+VF and RSVP to the event.
*Donate $2 to the CIF+VF at the screening.
*Order a Dollar Double Feature (sandwich/salad and drink) from the MoJoe Lounge. For every Dollar Double Feature ordered, MoJoe Lounge will donate a dollar to the CIF+VF.
Come out to support independent film and the local businesses who support the CIF+VF.

Admission is free, donations accepted.
